Whereas:
Canadians have played a critical role in building many of the most successful projects in blockchain;
Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies offer a unique opportunity to modernize the way Canadains interact with financial and technological sectors, research and development, supply chains, computing, agriculture and more;
Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies are becoming more common in the everyday lives of Canadians;
Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies are currently operating in an environment with regulatory uncertainty, and
Multiple peer countries have developed a framework or legislation for regulating cryptocurrency
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:
- Acknowledge the potential uses and economic benefits of blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies,
- Stop playing petty politics with an important sector of the Canadian economy;
- Work with experts and industry to develop innovative policy, principles-based regulations and frameworks for blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies,
- Encourage the use of blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies to modernize the Canadian digital economy
Canadians want the government to lead on Web3
Web3 technologies offer Canadian entrepreneurs, investors, and governments the tools to survive and compete in the future digital economy.
Web3 is more efficient, more transparent, and more secure than traditional economic tools. It creates opportunities that never existed before. It provides the means to unleash the innovation and creativity of a new generation of entrepreneurs.
Canadians have the opportunity to play a key role in the way Web3 evolves. But we need the support of governments to achieve our full potential.
The Canadian Web3 Council was created to work with governments to build the policy and regulatory infrastructure Canadians need to prosper in the future economy.
It’s an investment we can no longer afford to put off.

have heard of cryptocurrency. Canadians who are aware of cryptocurrency rate their impression a 4.3 out of 10. Those who have or had investments in digital assets and younger Canadians have the most positive impressions.
